Cinnamon rolls |
This is a really quick and easy version of the cinnamon bun or cinnamon roll. Using puff pastry instead of the bread dough saves a lot of time and effort. And it produces a different result. The rolls are crispy and buttery. And probably more tasty, but that’s debatable.
I also added chopped almonds and raisins to one batch. Nuts added crunch to the already crunchy puff pastry.
I used a square 10cm x 10cm sheet of pastry and ended up with mini cinnamon rolls. You can use a much larger sheet to get larger (or more normal sized) rolls.

Recipe for the filling came from an earlier recipe I posted for cinnamon buns.
Ingredients
Puff pastry
For the filling
50 g butter or margarine
50 ml sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
Chopped dried fruits and nuts (optional)
Directions
- Buy puff pastry, or make it if you wish. If frozen thaw it
- Mix the ingredients for the filling together
- Spread onto the puff pastry, as little or as much as you like
- Roll up, cut into pieces
- Bake at 200˚C / 390˚C until the puff pastry is golden brown and delicious, about 20 minutes. Since I made mini rolls they baked faster. Bigger (or normal!) sized rolls will take longer to bake but mini rolls are faster to eat.

It's nice to know that such a favorite treat can happen in less time :-) Very nice.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds really easy and good. Reminds me of some savoury snacks I make with puff pastry... I must post the recipe one day!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool quick way to make cinnamon rolls :) I wish we could buy puff pastry here!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing this recipe. How far apart do you put these on the baking sheet?
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting. Unfortunately I don't remember now how far apart they were. Perhaps leave about 2 inches - that should be enough
